I remember building my first kit with my father when I was about nine.  It was a model of the British battleship HMS Hood.   Subsequent trips to the hobby shop led to building cars, tanks, aircraft, various science fiction TV and movie themes, rubber-powered balsa flying kits and model rockets.

This site was created  to doument and share methods and techniques to those interested in the hobby.

So you want to build
something 'Special'?
Frustrated, "All thumbs", can't get things going right ?
I accept commisions to build.
Today the hobby is a fun outlet for honing craftsmanship, an opportunity to experiment with a wide variety of materials, painting and finishing techniques, all focused to achieving the illusion of realism on a small scale. Some subjects may bear historical or cultural significance and research for accuracy is half the fun.
Airbrushing techniques, working with enamels, acrillycs, washes, metalizing and faux-finishing and weathering techniques for realism is the name of the game. Sometimes things don't work out as expected, but the experimentation and learning process is half the fun. It's an opportunity to exercise focused and mindful patience, and to tune out the outside world for the miniature one being created on your work table.
